Tibetan Losar (New Year) Losar for this year starts on 1st Feb.2014 and traditionaly Losar lasts for 15 days but most the events start happing from 7thto 15th day of Luna calendar in Amdo. One of the popular events called ‘Molam Chemo’ meaning “Great prayer) takes place in almost over Tibet during Losar particularly in Regong and Ngwa. Performances like Cham; Masked Dances and Torgyag; a ritual ransom offering in the monasteries are spectacular. Other activities like the Giant Thanka display attracts not only strangers but also people from the communities.
